With all UClear intercom systems, you don’t have to go through the full intercom pairing process each and every time you want to pair units for intercom. Once the full pairing process has been done and all units are double flashing green, turning off all units will save that pairing into permanent memory.
From then on, you can simply turn on all units, and then hold the Volume Up button for 2 seconds on any single unit, and it will quickly rejoin intercom for all units that are turned on. Conversely, holding the Volume Down button for 2 seconds will disconnect intercom for the whole group.
This typically means the device is stuck in “update mode” (it thinks its plugged into a computer about to receive an update, as this mode is needed for the computer to recognize it for an update). To take the UClear out of update mode, all you need to do is connect it to the charger and press and hold the Power button, volume Up, and volume Down buttons for 3 seconds. After you release the buttons, the light should turn on indicating that it is charging. You should then be able to unplug the unit, turn it on, and continue using as normal.
First, please ensure the plug is oriented correctly. On the speaker plug itself, you will see a small UClear logo. When plugged in, please make sure that the logo is on face side of the unit (the front side with the buttons). Second, please ensure that the plug is 100% seated in the control unit. The rubber can be stiff from the factory so check to make sure that the plug has been fully seated in the control unit and it can’t go in any further.
UClear units need to be paired to the main Bluetooth on your phone and not just to the application. To pair the UClear unit to your phone’s main Bluetooth, first put the UClear unit into Bluetooth pairing mode by turning it on, and then hold both volume buttons for 2 seconds and the light should start flashing blue and red. From there, you should see the selection pop up on your phone’s main Bluetooth settings (some devices may need to ‘search’ for new pairings as they may not pop up right away. For example, if you have a Motion Infinity system, you should see the selection “MOTION INFINITY” show up).
If you see your devices name show up but it has ‘BLE’ on the end, do not select this option for the main Bluetooth. It should only show MOTION INFINITY, MOTION 6, or MOTION 4 LITE.
Apple products handle Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connections different than Android products. There is a limit on how much data can be transferred at one time through the BLE connection on iPhones, so this causes the download to take longer than if the download was done with an Android phone. To not interrupt the download and to make sure it has a chance to fully download, please ensure that you have sufficient time to allow the download to fully complete, so we recommend to do this update before you go to bed. Or you can do the update through the computer as well with the control unit hardwired to your computer using the provided USB charging/data cord. You can find the latest updates on our website here:
Microphone placement with the Motion series is incredibly important as the Advanced Beam Forming (ABF) technology requires the microphones to be symmetrical and properly placed within the helmet. For full face helmets, the microphones can be placed down by your mouth, just sticking out of the cheekpads on either side of your mouth. For modular, 3/4, and half-helmets with speaker pockets, the microphones should be placed on the inside brim of the helmet above your eyebrows, with the microphones about 4-6 inches apart. This will put the microphones just above your temples. To visually see how these should be placed, please refer to the video below on installing the microphone/speakers:
The USafe crash detection system is only available on the Motion Infinity model of the Motion series. Both the Motion 6 and the Motion 4 Lite do not come equipped with this feature.
